Oceans Capacity Building Training Program

The World Bank, Melbourne Law School, DOALOS, ISA and FAO are offering the Oceans Capacity Building Training Program tailored to participants from the Africa region, focusing on the oceans and seas surrounding the African continent, with the exception of the Mediterranean and Red Seas.

The workshop will take place from September 20 to October 29, 2021. The training consists of online pre-recorded lectures, reading materials, and live online discussion sessions.

This course provides an introduction to global ocean governance, a primer on public international law related to the oceans, and the international legal framework for the blue economy, including relevant conventions related to fisheries, marine pollution, conservation and biodiversity, climate change, maritime transport and shipping, marine scientific research, and activities in the Area, among other topics.

Applications are invited from government officials, staff from partner organizations, and other relevant stakeholders working directly on ocean governance issues, oceans policy, fisheries, marine pollution, conservation and biodiversity, maritime transport shipping, marine scientific research and related areas.
